Jerome Hines was a very famous man in the world of opera and television thanks to his frequent appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, the annual Met Spring tour and on the Voices of Firestone weekly broadcasts. Within the American Protestant community, however, he was held in high esteem because of his reputation for being devout and active in outreach.
Various fans decided to start local chapters across the United States and abroad and called themselves Jerry’s Angels. Some published newsletters for their members and kept track of performances or lectures sponsored by CAI. Eventually a newsletter was published by CAI to send to all members so that all information could be shared. We would like to continue this interactive part of CAI’s history in an expanded context enabled by the digital age. We are inviting fans of Jerome Hines, old and new to become a new network of local friends willing to lend helping hands and financial
support to raise awareness of needs and possibilities in their communities for performances of Kairós Christós or the other programs developed by CAI to share the wealth of sacred and secular classical vocal art in their communities.
